I caught these two bands on Austin City Limits last night and was really impressed with both the music & their performances. The first was Andrew Bird . Here's a live performance: This video reminds me of an NFB animated short... about squid-lovin': And here's another live track where he takes the blues in a crazy direction: ============================================== The second act I caught on AUC was St. Vincent. Here's a couple tracks from ACL including a song called Marrow that has a cool video too: Here's the video for Marrow: And then I found this intimate number with the two of them together. thanks for showing me st. vincent the other week. also, i think it is worth mentioning that st vincent and bon iver teamed up for some song on the new moon movie soundtrack. you know, i mention this here because i'm sure everyone on the boards and all the fans of the radio show are also HUGE twilight fans. ...anyway.

In case you didn't notice, I replaced the previous live St. Vincent tracks with the Austin City Limits performances that had originally caught my ear... and I just found one of the Andrew Bird ACL performances on YouTube tonight too:

I can't believe marrow is all real instruments! That guitar of hers has an super raw and hot sound.
Also, the song about shooting, monsters, smith and wesson etc is crazily haunting and ambient-sounding.
