I'm in the middle of reading Dark Haven right now, the third book in the Chronicles of the Necromancer. I really dig the series because it adds a different spin on the idea of a Necromancer as someone who helps the dead along in their journey, putting the restless dead to rest, communicating with the dead so families have closure, etc... The world it takes place in is basically haunted in general with the dead and living co-existing in many cases peacefully. It gives the book a solid foundation in its own history as some family members die and move on while others stick around to "help out" or offer counsel. The first book, the Summoner, was a quick read for me despite the length (they are all well over 500 pages) and made me eager to get the second, which I didn't have to wait too long for... I think the third came out about a year after the second, so the author is keeping a pretty good pace. Creatures ~ ghosts, zombies, werewolves, vampires, etc... Magic ~ Necromancy, Blood Magic, Healing Magic, and another I can't recall... Chronicles of the Necromancer - Gail Z. Martin. Book 1 - The Summoner Book 2 - The Blood King Book 3 - Dark Haven Thanks!
