From CBR's Comic Reel: BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOODThe Los Angeles Time Hero Complex blog has a first look at the next DC Universe direct-to-video feature. They write, "Written by Judd Winick and based on his 2005 Batman comics story line, it's Batman versus another vigilante, Red Hood, who doesn't mind cleaning up Gotham by leaving dead bodies in his wake. Animated guru Bruce Timm exec produces this pretty violent look into crime on the streets, and it's directed by "Superman Doomsday" co-director Brandon Vietti." Sounds good, but do we really want or need another Batman-centric animated movie? Don't get me wrong, I will certainly buy it when it comes out, but isn't it time for Flash? Or Suicide Squad? Or Doom Patrol? Or Firestorm? Or Green Arrow and Black Canary? Or Adam Strange? Or Metamorpho? Or the Outsiders (and put Batman in it if that's what you need to do)? Or Sgt. Rock (WWII, please)? Or Martian Manhunter? Or Plastic Man?
Come on, man!

I totally agree that there are a plethora of other subjects to be covered despite loving Batman a great deal. My other minor complaint is that there are at least half a dozen Batman stories I'd rather see animated than this arc, including the ORIGINAL Red Hood story. How about Year One in a similar style to Mazuchelli's?

My favorite hero is Batman, but i agree with Mike. We don's need another batman cartoon. What about Green Arroe year one? or Doom Patrol?

Ooooh! Doom Patrol would be pretty friggin' cool. Which incarnation would you be rooting for? My favourite run is the John Arcudi/Tan Eng Huat run. It didn't last long, but was a lot of fun. Green Arrow Year One was a great suggestion too. Did you mention that one in another thread? I'd love to see them ape the art as much as possible. Cosmic Odyssey done in a Mignola style (a la Amazing Screw-On Head) would pretty cool too. Lots of characters and settings. Apparently Jonah Hex is supposed to be the subject for the the short film on Under the Hood! Woo hoo!

I've never read Cosmic Odyssey, but I always hear good things about it...And a movie with Darkseid is always a good thing.
But maybe WB allows the creative team do 2 movies for every Batman movie
