Yeah, you heard me, he's getting his butt reemed by the very network he stuck with for 16 years. NBC has no class. If it wasn't for "Chuck", which I have vowed to NOT watch live anymore, no need to give that sinking ship of a network any of my ratings, I wouldn't even watch NBC at all.

I think what they are doing to Conan is really shitty. Jay Leno is NOT funny to people my age. Why do you think they tried to put him at 10pm? Because the old people that liked watching Jay Leno were getting TOO old to stay up until 11:35pm.

I hope Conan goes to FOX and destroys Leno in the ratings. I hope that NBC get's taken to the cleaners by Conan's lawyers and they have to pay him millions and millions of dollars. I hope that when Jay Leno renegotiates, he takes NBC to the cleaners too. Suck those fucking bastards dry my friends, they are super douche bags for doing what they are doing and I hope Karma kicks them in the nuts.

Okay, sorry about the swearing, but I feel fairly passionate about this, because it's the little guy getting squashed because a bigger guy wants his old job back. It's something NBC will be recovering from for years to come. This is a big deal and after all is said and done, I hope NBC is the bottom-feeder network for the rest of this decade. FUCK THOSE GUYS!

Whether or not you think he was funny or not, he at least tried to mix it up and not do the same shit over and over again every damn night like Leno does. How many fucking Headlines can we laugh at on Monday nights? Conan had some crazy ass shit on his show and it's going to be missed.

As a deal nears for Conan O'Brien's exit from NBC, one thing is certain: The characters and recurring comedy bits O'Brien originated during his 16-plus years on "Late Night" and "The Tonight Show" will not follow the host when he loses his coveted 11:35 p.m. slot to Jay Leno.

The network owns the intellectual property behind such popular O'Brien characters as Pimpbot 5000 and Conando, as well as recurring segmentos such as In the Year 3000 and Desk Driving. Sources involved in the settlement negotiations say NBC is keeping the copyrighted and trademarked elements of O'Brien's shows as part of the deal. That means the bits and characters will likely never be seen after O'Brien's "Tonight" ends its run January 22.

It's unclear who controls Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, the crass canine puppet that is perhaps O'Brien's most popular recurring bit. Triumph was originated by writer and longtime O'Brien pal Robert Smigel, whose representatives declined to comment on its ownership.

In 1993, David Letterman got into a dustup with NBC when he departed "Late Night" for CBS' "Late Show." NBC attorneys attempted to prevent Letterman from taking intellectual property originated on "Late Night" to the comic's new home. Letterman responded by dropping certain bits and renaming other recurring segmentos -- "Viewer Mail" became "CBS Mailbag" and frequent guest Larry "Bud" Melman began referring to himself by his real name, Calvert DeForest. Letterman mocked the dispute on his first "Late Show" when NBC anchor Tom Brokaw interrupted the monologue and stole cue cards in the name of securing NBC's intellectual property.

O'Brien, if he lands at another late-night show, might be in a tougher spot. Unlike comic personalities Letterman and Leno, O'Brien began his career as a writer on "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons," and his shows relied more heavily on the cleverly scripted bits and outrageous characters. Losing those assets could hurt O'Brien as he looks for another home, although his "Tonight" had featured fewer of the characters than "Late Night" and the host -- who is considered one of the top comedy writers in the business -- may be looking for a fresh start. Sources close to him said he was not interested in taking his NBC characters with him.

Yup. This is not going to bode well for NBC. Conan will survive... I'm sure they'll mine the comedic gold in all this absurd bullshit... besides it's not the title(s) of the skits, it's the people who write it. (Desk bicycling anyone?)

It would be absolutely AMAZING if NBC dumped Leno and kept Conan on... paid his severance package and big him farewell. But I guess that would be too much of a Hollywood ending.

Conan definitely got the short end of the stick. Ah well. He'll get a show somewhere eventually and his fans will follow. It sucks that he'll lose the intellectual property, but maybe the new stuff will be even better.
