Holy crap! THIS ANNOUNCEMENT is all everyone in the shop was talking about yesterday and has so much potential, it should share some with other comic related projects! I have really high hopes for this, REC2 and World War Z: "Cable channel AMC has acquired the rights to the Image Comics series "Walking Dead," according to the Hollywood Reporter." "AMC has been entering the world of serialized drama with great results in the recent years. "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad" have rave reviews and a healthy dose of award nominations. The Hollywood Reporter notes AMC has a history with genre movies, but this will be its first attempt at a long form series featuring creature effects, zombies, and a setting well outside the everyday world. While diversity appears to be the order of the day, AMC will continue its high writing standard. AMC's Joel Stillerman, says the series contains "beautiful storytelling, great human emotions and everything that really works on AMC … it allows us to stay where we want to stay: in the world of smart, sophisticated storytelling and apply that to a show that we think the audience would love. Attached the project is director Frank Darabont. The director of "The Green Mile" will write, direct, and have executive producer credit on the series. While known for more prestige dramas like "The Majestic" and "The Shawshank Redemption," Darabont is no stranger to genre material." ================================== How friggin' cool is that?

It's friggin' cool in many ways, but it also sucks. AMC is going to edit the shit out of this for network television and I don't know about you, but when I read this series, I don't see "edited for television" on my copy. If this was for HBO or Showtime I would be creaming in my pants, but as it I am only pretty damn excited.

I've never read it, but that looks good to me man. Maybe I'll pick up the compendium when I'm in town (if ya's gots it.) Assuming they're still in print, it shouldn't be a problem. There are TPB's, Hard Covers (collecting 2 TPB's each) and the fancy-pants Slipcase Edition (like DC's Absolute Editions) as well, but the Compendium is the easiest way to get the most in one go. Plus, you can defend yourself from zombie attacks with the thing, it's so friggin' thick!

After checking out the prices on-line for the compendium, maybe I should take baby steps and try TPB's instead. ;D
