Actor Rick Malambri posted some interesting comments on his Twitter page last night. First: "What do you guys think, you think I could be Captain America? Going in for Disney/Marvel tomorrow." He followed that with "Fiending for some MW2 but have to study for Captain America audition tomorrow. I think that's more important, haha." The actor is still fairly unknown, with his most recent screen appearance being the role of "Clerk" in "Surrogates." Whether or not he gets the part, the more interesting aspect is, unless he's just talking hot air, the part is still up for grabs. With a presumed June start date for production, that seems to be cutting things awfully close. Directed by Joe Johnston, release date: July 22nd, 2011

The Invaders! Cool. A little more from CBR's Comic Reel: THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA... Latino Review and various other sites reported on a conference call in which Johnson mentioned the man who will play Cap will be an American, a complete unknown, and he will be cast by March 1st. ... That's who we're looking for. Will we find him? I don't know. It's tough," says Johnston. "The costume is a flag, but the way we're getting around that is we have Steve Rogers forced into the USO circuit. After he's made into this super-soldier, they decide they can't send him into combat and risk him getting killed. He's the only one and they can't make more. So they say, 'You're going to be in this USO show' and they give him a flag suit. He can't wait to get out of it," he explained.

Courtesy of CBR, here's the short list of actors up for the role of Captain America's kid... Wait, I mean Captain America: CLICK ME!I kid about the kid thing. There's one actor there that looks like an adult and while my initial reaction wasn't good, the more I think about it, the more I could see John Krasinski pulling it off. The rest look to be in the Bucky age range to me.

From CBR's Comic Reel: THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICAScreenrant reports the possibility of actor Robert Buckley being cast as Bucky. Buckley was part of an odd story a few weeks back where several sites announced him as playing the title role, but that initial story vanished like so much mist. "What I've been told is that Buckley did audition for the role of Captain America but they thought he might be a good fit for Cap's sidekick, Bucky. He was/is in talks for the movie and someone jumped the gun on presuming he was selected for the title role," writes Screenrant. Release date: July 22nd, 2011
