October 21stFafhrd & the Gray Mouser - These two guys have been wandering around the fictitious world of Nehwon since Fritz Lieber created them in 1910. Imagine the chemistry of an eloquent buddy cop movie shared between a big northern barbarian and a wiry thief. Throw 'em into a universe that's mostly like Conan's Hyborian Age with just a little hint of pre-18th century Europe at times and you gotcherself a very general idea of Fafhrd & the Gray Mouser... sort of. Howard Chaykin has done a remarkable job adapting these characters for this comic series (The characters have appeared a multitude of places including DC's " Sword of Sorcery" series). There's a charm and humour to it that sets it apart from the typical sword and sorcery fare without it seeming unnatural. Throw in the incredible art of Mike Mignola with Al Williamson inking and this is a tour de force in talent. I'd recommend this one to both fans of the "sword & sorcery" genre as well as those who are new to it or who have avoided it in the past.

Note of interest on Crumb's adaptation of the Book of Genesis from CBR HERE: "Sales charts | R. Crumb's The Book of Genesis Illustrated climbs seven spots to No. 2 in its second month on BookScan's list of top-selling adult graphic novels in bookstores. It's bested, as most are, by the latest volume of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto. But it's another story on USA Today's bestseller chart, where Crumb's book drops 49 places in its second week to No. 129."
